Een dagje met het leger in de Canadalaan

by Mijke

It was a sunny day in October. We had all just some breakfast and drove to one hour away by car. We went to the Canada Avenue in Bergen op Zoom, there was a Liberation organized for the veterans of Canada and the army. The street also called the Canadalaan.

When we arrived, the street was already busy with people, everyone had a flower pinned as a corsage. The people were in costume clothing from the past, thus the year 1945. We also saw an army tent and an army motor ... I was of course ask if I could sit on it and yes! it might!!!

Also, many soldiers of the army were already present. We then go drink and got cake at. When we were once downed, we went out, there were many more people in the Canadalaan than when we arrived there. They said that about ten minutes, a procession of it 50 military vehicles would stand in the street, So we listened a moment at what wind music. And then wait and wait and wait ... but nothing came?? We were told that they had a delay on the highway and it could take a long time, so ... wait and wait yet again.

!! And finally there was the first vehicle !! and of course we scream and clap, because it was still very nice! They were still in the street driving! We have been to almost all vehicles and soldiers on the photo and the best thing I found that I have been on a motorcycle. And soldier told me that I was turning the throttle and it was a really tough sound!! And we have the icing on the cake all police and military applauded and waved. I thought it was a great day and I'm glad I was along.
